Interfaith Action of Evanston’s (IAE) Produce Mobile is scheduled to pop up in Evanston on the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Robert Crown Community Center, 1801 Main Street (east of Dodge, Bus #93), in Evanston. Upcoming Produce Mobiles for 2025 will be held on Jan. 14, Feb. 11, March 11, Apr. 8, May 13, June 10, July 8, Aug. 12, Sept. 9, Oct. 14, Nov. 11, Dec. 9.
Free parking is available in the Robert Crown Center parking lot, on the north side of Main Street, and on nearby neighborhood streets.
Produce Mobile volunteers distribute 10-20 pounds of fresh fruit and vegetables per person to Cook County residents. A few personal hygiene and household cleaning items not covered by SNAP benefits are distributed while supplies last. There is a walk-up line only. We suggest people bring strong bags with handles and a wheeled cart. Volunteers are available to carry the produce to people’s vehicles.
A numbered ticket is given to each person in line. Those who are not registered with the Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD) will be asked to register, which is free, and will receive a GCFD pantry card to use in the future. Those who have already registered should bring their GCFD pantry cards with them.
Distribution is usually outside. Indoor restrooms, water fountains, and seating are always available.
Please call 734-646-7170 or 847-475-1150 for more information or to volunteer.
