The in-person permit desk will be closed from December 24th through December 31st, reopening at 8:30 a.m. on January 2nd. Please note that permit representatives will remain available by phone during this period.
The Building and Development Services Division assists residents, property owners, contractors, architects, developers and other parties with private construction projects and building maintenance within the City of Evanston. Construction permitting, building inspections, and property maintenance code enforcement are all responsibilities handled by this division of the Community Development Department. Building Permits

Construction Work Hours
Monday - Friday: 7am - 7pm
(loud noise, such as jackhammering, not permitted after 6pm)
Saturday: 8am-5pm
Sunday: No Construction Permitted
