The Highland Garden Club of Evanston is holding their annual Backyard Botanicals sale on Saturday, May 31, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. (rain or shine), in Ackerman Park, 2430 Central Street, Evanston, southeast corner of Central Street & McDaniel Avenue.  Ackerman Park is conveniently located west of the Central Street shopping district (Central Street & McDaniel Ave.).   

A variety of perennials, including native plants that work in residential gardens for bees and butterflies, will be available from gardens of our members and friends.  All plants are from this area and have been a success. Experienced gardeners will be there to answer your questions. Examples of some of our plants: Natives: Monarda (Bee Balm), Turtlehead – Pink, Yarrow, Queen of the Prairie, Wild Ginger, Daisies, Coneflower, May Apple, Solomon’s Seal. Perennials: Ligularia, Ladies’ Mantle, Astilbe, Sedum, Epimedium, Lamium and much more. All proceeds support community projects such as a beautiful community garden at the northwest corner of Central and Stewart. Cash and checks, please.
